“Put yourself in Truman’s shoes. Would you have launched the bomb?”

 

To me it seemed easy enough, after all the answer was obvious, wasn’t it? Launching the atomic bomb meant the
murder of thousands of innocents. And that was bad.
Wasn’t it? 

The question prompted by my Global Studies teacher during our  six-month-long term in Hiroshima, Japan did not prove as easy to answer as I thought it would.
